An Edge To The Boccia Enjoyment

Thirty-five enthusiastic players celebrated the 12 th annual Holiday Boccia Tournament at the Allan Brewster Centre, Papatoetoe, Auckland on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 January. As per usual, the CP Society hosted pairs tournament had a competitive edge and a large dose of enjoyment, throughout the weekend.

Great to see the younger generation improving their skills to another level over the two days . BC3 player David Phuah was impressive with his variety of shot making and so was Vishal Chandra. Jordon Milroy, who had never played boccia before this tournament also showed that he has the ability to advance in the game.

At the prize giving there was a hugely important announcement that Sue Dumble and Paul Munckhof were made Life Members of Boccia NZ at BoNZ 2014 AGM. Both well deserved recipients of this honour. As Paul was refereeing at this event the Society took the opportunity to formally present his life membership and to acknowledge his achievements.

Another well deserve recognition was the announcement that Nessie Thomson won the Allways Mobility Services prize for her wonderful contributions to Boccia. Nessie never misses a chance to contribute, whether its refereeing, advice on coaching or helping out in the kitchen. Nessie is a great fit to win recognition via Allways Mobility Services who are a long time loyal sponsor of boccia.

As always the Holiday Boccia Tournament was a great way to start the year. If anyone is interested in playing in the upcoming tournaments throughout the year contact Luke Morriss, Director of Boccia :
