Help Develop New Strategy
Megan McCoy, Director of the Office for Disability Issues is encouraging everyone connected with the disability community to help develop a new disability strategy for New Zealand.
Megan states
“The new disability strategy will provide clear direction for the government over the next ten years, helping them to make informed decisions on issues that impact disabled people.
Early next week, we’re launching a campaign inviting the disability community and others to tell us what the most important things are for disabled New Zealanders and their whānau to live a good life, to feel valued, supported and able to participate in their communities. You, your members, colleagues and families can join the conversation by attending an event, holding a workshop, recording a video or filling out a survey.
We’ll send you an e-newsletter on the day of the launch. This will include a link to a new website with all the information you’ll need to take part. You can also keep up to date by following us on Facebook : www.facebook.com/nzofficefordisabilityissues.
We know that for some of you, this is one of many things that you are consulted on, while for others this might be your first opportunity to have a say. We want to encourage as many of you as possible to participate in this consultation; your views and ideas are what is going to help make the new strategy right.”
Megan will be sending out further information next week.
