The CP Society Office will be closed from Friday the 22 nd of December 2017 until Monday the 8 th of January 2018 with a limited amount of staff. The full complement of staff will start again from the Monday the 15 th of January.

The Cerebral Palsy Society wants to learn more about how we can support parents of children with CP.

To do this effectively we need to hear your thoughts and share your experiences at a parent forum.

Children are welcome and there will be a supervised area adjacent to the meeting with games and fun activities for them.

Parent to Parent Coures

New Zealand Conductive Education, Parent to Parent and the Cerebral Palsy Society is offering free training to parents, stepparents or grandparents of people with cerebral palsy who want to help support other parents.

Talking to someone who has been through similar experiences can be life-changing for families new to the world of disability.

Total Mobility ID Cards Are Expiring

Dear members

Total Mobility ID cards are expiring on 30 June 2017.

Although the cards will expire on 30 June, taxi operators will still accept the cards until 7 th August in order to ensure that you are not left without a means of transportation while waiting for your card to arrive by post.

'Happy Playland' by The Candle Wasters is an original musical webseries from the makers of web hits ‘Nothing Much To Do’ and ‘Bright Summer Night’. Funding has been provided by NZ On Air’s digital production webseries fund.

Filming will take place in April 2017 in Wellington. Actors need to be Wellington based. We’re looking for actors to play roles in their early 20s.

How Can We Help?

The Society is willing to play its part to support members and their families to ease the consequences of the after effects of yesterday’s magnitude 7.5 earthquake that was widely felt in both the South and lower North Islands. According to today’s radio reports there has been over 800 aftershocks which equates to 20 plus aftershocks an hour. Our love goes out to everyone caught up in this disaster. Join The Circus

Applicable Circus for Physically Disabled People starts on Tuesday 11th October and runs weekly from 2-3pm. Thomas Hinz, Morgaina Matthias and Jo Carvahlo will introduce you to a range of circus skills to help improve your physical literacy.

We are able to offer this 10 week trial at no charge but will ask for caregiver and participant feedback.

New Flash From HQ For Dunedin Members

  • Fairy, and Pirates party- Thursday 21 st July 2016


  • The first event on Saturday 28 th May 10:30am - 3pm will be a free train trip to see the Kapiti Coast with a free feed in Paraparaumu.
  • On Monday 6 th June (Public Holiday) 10am we will celebrate Matariki together at Carter’s Observatory
  • On Wednesday 6 th July 7:30pm we will be inspired by Spoken Word Poetry at Meow (18+ venue)

Survey On Pharma Industry

Raukatauri Music Groups

The Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre confirms there are still spaces available for its new Whanau (Family) Music Groups. These Whanau Groups are designed to promote healthy early childhood development and are open to children with special needs, as well as their siblings and peers.

Post Earthquake Meeting And Upcoming Workshops

It includes an update on the Metro Sports Facility Project and the inclusion of an ‘Aquatic Sensory Experience’ It notes that there is an entire generation of swimmers coming through Christchurch who have never swum in a 50m pool. The minutes include the EDLG Strategic Direction and the Government’s mandatory National Plan of Action. There is also links to two quake related workshops to be held in 5th October and 13th October.

'What's Our New Story - 5 Years On',is a workshop brought to you by the Earthquake Disability Leadership Group, with the generosity of funding from the Christchurch City Council.

Ruth Jones and Chris Beardsley invite disabled people and their families to talk about how life has changed following the Canterbury earthquakes. This is a chance to discuss your experiences and share strategies for moving forward.

Council Aisability Advisers Are Axed

Thirty members of various disability groups lobbied Auckland Council’s governing body on Wednesday 26 th of August, to protest the council’s decision to axe the jobs of the region's disability advisers. As reported in the New Zealand Herald last week “The council's Empowered Communities plan will cut community development and safety staff from 101 to 78 fulltime-equivalents to cut costs by $1.6 million this year and $2 million a year in future years.

Free Kids Show

Apparently if you want to find out who stole the bananas you and your family need to go to Avondale College at 6pm on Wednesday 23 September or Thursday 24 September 2015. Once this destination is reached all will be revealed in the show entitled The Search for the Banana Thief” It’s free, it’s fun and there are great prizes and competitions to be won.

Check Out PHAB Disco This Saturday

It’s time for another of PHAB’s very popular youth discos. Last year over 200 people attend and organisers are hoping for even more party goers. This year’s event is on this Saturday -20 th June- at the Mt Roskill Youth Zone, 740 Sandringham Road Extension, Mt Roskill. (6.30pm -10pm)

This free disco is for youth with disabilities between the ages of 12-24 years.

Boccia Rolls Into Tauranga

A new Boccia club is starting in Tauranga on 20 th of May. Initially for 8 weeks. Club night is on Wednesday’s from 5pm till 6.30pm at Bethlehem Hall. No experience necessary. Coaches are provided. It’s a sport for all ages. The sport is for athletes with physical disabilities and there are sporting pathways available. So come on and have a go at a sport that can take you places.

Dale Was Loved By All

The Society is sad to hear of the passing of one of its members, Dale Edwin Burdett. He passed away peacefully on 1 December 2014. A service for Dale will be held in the Main Chapel of the Morrison Funeral Home, 220 Universal Drive Henderson, on Saturday 6 December 2014 at 3:00 pm.
