To do this effectively we need to hear your thoughts and share your experiences at a parent forum.

Total Mobility ID Cards Are Expiring

Dear members

Total Mobility ID cards are expiring on 30 June 2017.

Although the cards will expire on 30 June, taxi operators will still accept the cards until 7 th August in order to ensure that you are not left without a means of transportation while waiting for your card to arrive by post.

'Happy Playland' by The Candle Wasters is an original musical webseries from the makers of web hits ‘Nothing Much To Do’ and ‘Bright Summer Night’. Funding has been provided by NZ On Air’s digital production webseries fund.

Applicable Circus for Physically Disabled People starts on Tuesday 11th October and runs weekly from 2-3pm. Thomas Hinz, Morgaina Matthias and Jo Carvahlo will introduce you to a range of circus skills to help improve your physical literacy.

We are able to offer this 10 week trial at no charge but will ask for caregiver and participant feedback.

  • On Monday 6 th June (Public Holiday) 10am we will celebrate Matariki together at Carter’s Observatory
  • On Wednesday 6 th July 7:30pm we will be inspired by Spoken Word Poetry at Meow (18+ venue)

Post Earthquake Meeting And Upcoming Workshops

It includes an update on the Metro Sports Facility Project and the inclusion of an ‘Aquatic Sensory Experience’ It notes that there is an entire generation of swimmers coming through Christchurch who have never swum in a 50m pool. Council Aisability Advisers Are Axed

Thirty members of various disability groups lobbied Auckland Council’s governing body on Wednesday 26 th of August, to protest the council’s decision to axe the jobs of the region's disability advisers. As reported in the New Zealand Herald last week “The council's Empowered Communities plan will cut community development and safety staff from 101 to 78 fulltime-equivalents to cut costs by $1.6 million this year and $2 million a year in future years.

Boccia Rolls Into Tauranga

A new Boccia club is starting in Tauranga on 20 th of May. Initially for 8 weeks. Club night is on Wednesday’s from 5pm till 6.30pm at Bethlehem Hall. No experience necessary. Coaches are provided. It’s a sport for all ages. The sport is for athletes with physical disabilities and there are sporting pathways available. So come on and have a go at a sport that can take you places.

Dale Was Loved By All

The Society is sad to hear of the passing of one of its members, Dale Edwin Burdett. He passed away peacefully on 1 December 2014. A service for Dale will be held in the Main Chapel of the Morrison Funeral Home, 220 Universal Drive Henderson, on Saturday 6 December 2014 at 3:00 pm.
